Oil on linen. 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, firing HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Royal Gun Salute at the Colchester Station. 2nd June 2022.

This Saluting station contributed to Colchester receiving its City status once again after 410AD when the Roman Army left Britain. The firing battery is F (Sphinx) Parachute Battery and traces its history back to Napoleonic times and Egypt and at Waterloo. Under 16 Air Assault Brigade they have deployed to Sierra Leone, Iraq, Afghanistan and Sudan.
