General Wingate was the creative thinker behind our resurrected fighting spirit after the disaster of Singapore. He re-invented British Imperial forces to be able to fight in the Jungle, deep behind enemy lines, using air-support: when before, we were terrified of going off road. He was killed in a plane crash in 1944.
