The Priory Colchester

Oil on Canvas 40x40" +Frame. View of the main entrance to the early Norman Priory, just outside the town wall. The sun only catches this façade of about an hour on summers days.

Colchester's Norman Ruin, St Botolph's, said to be shot at by Cromwell's big guns in the Civil War it is in a dark corner of town, the sun only lights the front façade for an hour a day when the clouds part. Built in 1093 with bits of old Roman town house it was the Order of St Augustine
