The Festival of Britain 1951 turned the Southbank of the Thames from a bombed out mess into a playground for theater goers that is still popular today.
The Concrete monoliths of the period may not be attractive to all, but they are functional, In the dark they can appear unobtrusive when adorned in cheerful Christmas lights and trees. This painting was painted on commission. Prints are available.
