Wolsey's Gate
Oil on linen, 12x16" +Frame. The port gate of Cardinal Wolsey's never completed School. The coat of arms is sadly to far gone to identify.

In afternoon spring sunlight, The port gate of Cardinal Wolsey's Grammar School, which was not finished before he was beheaded for failure to arrange Henry VIII's divorce. The Cardinal had dissolved several Monasteries before the 1536 reformation, because they were so corrupt and neglected. Only this gate remains. The sand stone coat of arms is sadly to far eroded to identify.
