Information

Sir Winston in the cold – Oil on linen, 12×16″ plus Frame.  View of the Hero Sir W Churchill in the cold of a proper London winter with Westminster Abbey behind. Ivor Roberts-Jones created the statue in 1971.  Despite its anatomical peculiarities it is a very good expression of the bull dog spirit. Westminster Abbey is in the background of Sir Winston in the cold.

Service and Inspiration

Hugh has served in the Yeomanry for 30 years, and now he exhibits his work at all the major History Festivals in England.  He is not a photo-realist, but a follower of painters like Titian, Caravaggio and Sargent.  His attention to military detail has a soldier’s eye whilst still retaining the painterly qualities of a loose almost impressionistic approach together with historic accuracy.

For those looking to commission their own piece of history, Hugh offers a collaborative process.  He honours the client’s vision while infusing it with his distinctive artistic style.

Discover the elegance of traditional artistry with Hugh, and let the beauty of Britain’s heritage adorn your walls.
